V magistrskem delu smo opisali ohranjanje pacientovega dostojanstva v času sprejema in zdravstvene obravnave iz vidika pričakovanj pacienta in vidika zdravstvenih delavcev.
Raziskovalna metodologija. 4-f classification. Raziskovalni vzorec je zajemal paciente in diplomirane medicinske sestre. Z metodo analize besedila smo na podlagi intervjujev formulirali kode, podkategorije in glavno kategorijo.
Vsako kategorijo smo podprli z avtentičnimi citati.
Ključne besede:,,,, Leto izida: 2010 Založnik: [M. Sekundarni jezik Jezik: Angleški jezik Naslov: Respect for the dignity of the patient's health treatment Opis: Upon admission, patients often suffer from fear due to their illness, as well as from insecurity and feelings of distress, all of which makes them particularly vulnerable.
It is therefore imperative for nurses to be aware of the importance of a professional attitude in the relationship to patients in order to preserve the patients’ dignity. This master’s thesis describes the preservation of a patient’s dignity during the time of admission and medical treatment in practice from the viewpoint of the patient’s expectations and from the viewpoint of the medical professionals. Research methodology.
Qualitative as well as quantitative methodology was used in the research. The data was acquired using unstructured interviews at the Department of Surgery. The research sample included patients and registered nurses. Using the method of text analysis, codes, subcategories and the main category were formed, based on the interviews.
Each category was supported by authentic quotes. As part of the quantitative methodology, we used a semi-structured questionnaire for 100 patients being treated at the Department of Surgery at the time of research. We also interviewed 59 medical technicians, 22 registered nurses, 13 doctors and 6 nursing auxiliaries working at the Department of Surgery. The members of the medical team are largely aware of the principle of dignity and make every effort to apply it to their everyday work with patients, while a large percentage of the patients do not realise that their dignity has been violated during medical treatment. Each individual understands, interprets and perceives the concept of dignity in a different way.
It is the duty of the medical team to make sure that the patients are aware of their rights and, above all, to consider and respect these rights in their work. Patients perceive the quality of human contact and relationships between everybody involved in the treatment as an integral part of the quality of medical care. Respecting human rights and, above all, protecting the personal integrity and dignity of a patient are highly relevant to the quality of medical care. Human dignity cannot be effectively respected on the level of principle alone, without taking into consideration its practical implications.
